Last Saturday evening became an unforgettable moment for our Filipino community here in Sweden. With very short notice, and through the kind request of Daddy Ricky Ocampo, we found ourselves working together to sponsor and serve a post-dinner feast for the Makati Football Club Boys and Girls teams. Our young athletes proudly representing the Philippines at the Gothia Cup 2025.
We prepared a meal that felt like home: the familiar flavors of chicken adobo, the warmth of salmon sinigang, and to finish, a rich and decadent ube cake for dessert. Alongside Merkado PH, Ate Anna and Ate Villaruz had been reaching out to us for days, ensuring there was enough rice and something to pair it with like chicken longganisa to make sure our young players felt nourished and cared for. Their consistent help inspired me personally. To say yes, to step up, and to help deliver.
Our Filipino hearts were united in this effort. It wasn’t about how much we could give, but how willing we were to work together for these kids. In just a short time, we formed a small but committed group: Ate Airoll, Kuya Neil, Mama Tonet, Kuya Jerry, Mommy Lolita, Ate Sheila, Kuya Dennis, and Tindero Pedro, ready to assist and serve with genuine care.

What made it all worthwhile was the happiness we saw on the kids’ faces. Their smiles, matched by the gratitude of their parents, guardians, and coaches, reminded us why we came together in the first place.
To honor the Makati Football Club, we presented a Certificate of Appreciation, and gave both the Boys and Girls teams a Certificate of Recognition, as a token of gratitude for bringing pride and joy to the Filipino community here in Sweden.

Earlier that week, we had the privilege of meeting Tomas Lozano, the founder of the Makati Football Club. He briefly shared how this team started, a story that left many of us inspired. I’ll admit, I’ve never considered myself a football enthusiast. But after meeting Tomas, hearing their story, and seeing the passion of these young athletes, something changed. I’ve grown curious… maybe even fascinated by the sport. My husband, who has played and coached football himself for years, couldn’t help but laugh and tease that he’s finally succeeded in getting me to watch football!
From the kitchen to the pitch, this experience wasn’t just about feeding a team, it was about building connections, celebrating Filipino talent, and finding pride in unexpected places.
Daghang Salamat, Makati Football Club.
From the Filipino Community in Sweden, we’re proud to stand with you.
